It Could Go Either Way at Milton Keynes!

Winter Enigma Marathon is among the many events on offer this weekend

It could go either way at the Enigma Running's Winter Enigma Marathons on Saturday 7 January and Sunday 8 January. These races have been run clockwise on Saturday and anti-clockwise on Sunday – with the added attractions of a 50K Ultra option and the Winter Enigma Half Marathon. However, this year all races will be run (directionally) with the clock.

Race HQ is the Caldecotte Arms, Lakeside Grove, Caldecotte, Milton Keynes and the marathon is seven scenic laps of Caldecotte Lake with strict but generous cut-off times of seven hours for the marathon and three and a half hours for the half marathon. There is a large pub car park, water station, toilets every lap, and a unique spinning medal for every finisher.

There are a number of 10K races in runABC South's comprehensive race listing – take a look here – but the biggest will undoubtedly be Stubbington Green 10K with all 2,000 places sold out within 15 hours of opening last September. It's easier to get tickets to see Peter Kay!

Stubbington Green 10K on Sunday 8 January has an elevation gain of just 43 metres on the slightly undulating route from Race HQ at Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington. There is a slightly revised course this year that passes Lee-on-the-Solent Golf Club and the Hovercraft Museum, then runs alongside the Solent out to Hill Head Beach and back.

This is also the weekend for most of the County Cross Country Championships to take place. runABC South reporter Alan Newman will join hundreds of other cross country enthusiasts at Brands Hatch for the Kent men's title race and should have a good view of the battle for gold as he is lapped in this traditional 12,000m slog around the former airfield at the famous old motor racing circuit.

As always, runABC South will bring you the results of these and many other events, plus all the news that matters and our usual features every week.

Don't forget to sign up here for the runABC South e-newsletter so you won't miss a thing.
