Terry's Legacy Remembered In Scotland

Help fight cancer at one of two Scottish events this September...

Terry Fox Run UK is back this September, celebrating the 45th anniversary of Canadian hero Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. On Sunday 14 September Scottish runners will take part at events in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, raising funds for The Institute of Cancer Research.

Terry Fox’s story is one of courage and determination. In 1980, after undergoing cancer treatment that required the amputation of his leg, he set out from Canada’s easternmost coast to run 26 miles a day with a prosthetic leg. His goal was to raise money for cancer research and his legacy continues to inspire people worldwide.

In Edinburgh, the Terry Fox Run will take place at Middle Meadow Walk and is hosted by the Edinburgh Medics Run Club. This marks the second year the Edinburgh Medics Run Club has hosted the run, promising a bigger and better experience than ever. Participants will take part in a 5K run around the scenic route, celebrating Terry’s life and mission.

Glasgow will also welcome the Terry Fox Run on 14 September, returning for its third consecutive year in the city's Victoria Park. Families can enjoy a 2.5K or 5K route, live music and a festive community atmosphere.

Both events are non-competitive and free to join with optional donations supporting vital cancer research led by dedicated scientists and researchers at The Institute of Cancer Research. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in and help make a difference in the fight against cancer.
