Historic Setting For Kent 10K
Harriers at the double in Mount Ephraim 10K...
Maidstone Harriers Run and Tri Club members scored a double race win at the Nice Work-promoted Mount Ephraim 10K on Sunday, 10 August 2025. Sam Flood (35:46) and Beth Rose (44:35) led a field of 282 finishers around the beautiful 10K course that takes runners along quiet country lanes around the stunning estate at Mount Ephraim Gardens.
Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens has been the home for many generations of the Dawes family since 1695. Situated between Canterbury and Faversham, just an hour from London, in the heart of the Garden of England countryside in Kent, Mount Ephraim comprises over 800 acres of woodland, pasture and a fruit farm.
Mount Ephraim also boasts ten acres of glorious Edwardian gardens open to the public, luxury accommodation, glamping pods, and the West Wing Tea Room. This idyllic location provides one of the most prestigious Race HQ settings for any running event.
The 10K course is not flat, featuring climbs in excess of 500 feet, run in a single, clockwise loop around Hernehill, Fostall, Dargate, Blean Wood, Clay Pits Wood, and Staplestreet, before returning to Mount Ephraim Gardens for the finish.
Sam Flood won by a mere three seconds from Aiden Gorham (Ashford & District RRC, 35:49). Oliver Regan (Thanet Roadrunners, 36:48) was third. Only seven athletes broke 40 minutes.
Beth Rose had a slightly easier time as six seconds was the margin over W40 Monika Pladaite (unattached, 44:41). The winner must have started at the front as the cushion was down to a single second on chip timing! Third place was claimed by Emily Gamble (Cruisers RC, 46:12).
A tidy 50 runners beat 50 minutes, and 150 were back in the cool of Mount Ephraim Gardens in less than an hour. The final runner was home in 1:43:13. All finishers received a bespoke medal, free photographs, free parking, and free entry into Mount Ephraim Gardens.
