The Sub-4 Werrington 10K returns on Sunday 11 October 2026, with Trentham Running Club once again combining competitive road racing with an effort to make its event as environmentally responsible as possible.

Starting at 10:00am from Moorside High School, the annual 10K takes runners onto the country lanes around Werrington. The race is chip timed and forms race 17 on the North Staffs Road Runners Association calendar, with prizes for the first three male and female finishers as well as age and team categories.

There is an extra incentive for anyone capable of producing a particularly quick morning. A pair of Brooks running trainers awaits any runner who can break the course record.

Trentham Running Club is also continuing its greener approach to race organisation. Water will be served in paper cups rather than plastic bottles, bananas will be waiting for runners and participants are encouraged to car share, bring refillable water bottles and leave disposable plastics at home. Entrants can also decide whether they want to pay for a race medal rather than automatically receiving one.

Before the 10K gets underway, an approximately 1K Fun Run will take place on the school fields at 9:30am. It will also be chip timed, with every Fun Run finisher receiving a medal.

For runners who like their local 10Ks friendly, competitive and uncomplicated, Werrington offers a traditional club race with a thoughtful modern approach.
