Get a ‘Pizza’ the running action in Glasgow this Sunday

Slices, we mean spaces, are still available for Scotland’s first ever Pizza Run in Glasgow this Sunday (2 June).

Based on a format designed in New York City – which involves eating a whole lot more pizza, on the move – Pizza Runs were ‘delivered’ to the UK for the first time in 2018.

A great first year in England and Wales has led organisers to bring their event to even more cities in 2019, and offer a wider range of distance options to pizza loving runners.

Glasgow’s event offers a choice of 5k, 10k and family mile routes – all based on laps around the starting point at Glasgow Green. Children under eight taking part in the family mile must be accompanied by an adult.

After a ‘disco warm-up’ delivered by ‘Mr Pizza’ himself, runners will be sent on their way.

When they finish their laps, they’ll be able to head straight for the pizza station in the race village to collect their post-race treats, courtesy of Domino’s: one slice of pizza for the family mile, but two slices of cheesy, tomatoey carb reloading joy for the 5k and 10k.

Runners also receive also get a tasty pizza shaped medal – and entry to the family-friendly after-party with Pizza Run UK's resident DJ, Craig ‘Cut Up’ Jones.

There’ll also be prizes for the top finishers and the best fancy dress, preferably pizza themed.

Runners who can’t make one of this year’s events but who really fancy adding a pizza shaped medal to their collection can take part in the virtual Pizza Run UK. After registering, runners must run their chosen race distance between 1 June and 31 December, and send proof that they’ve completed it. Medals are then sent direct by post.

To take part on Sunday, participants must register in advance.
