Alcester Has It All
Beautiful scenery, a lively town-centre finish and a warm welcome to all - this Warwickshire 10K has plenty to offer...
The Alcester 10K will return on 5 October for its 11th edition, bringing runners back to the heart of this picturesque Warwickshire town. What began as a hometown project for Raceways CEO Martine Verweij has become one of the region’s most popular autumn fixtures, combining scenic country lanes with an unbeatable atmosphere.
Starting and finishing on Alcester’s High Street, the route takes runners on a rolling single-loop course through Warwickshire’s countryside, before the final push back into town. Over the years the course has seen tweaks, but it continues to provide a challenge suitable for PB chasers, seasoned racers and first-timers alike.
A spokesperson says: "The Alcester 10K has always been about more than racing, with the whole town playing its part in creating a welcoming and celebratory atmosphere. From the legendary mid-race boost of a Hogans Cider at the 7K mark to the sight of runners heading straight for a pint at the Turks Head after finishing, the event captures Alcester’s unique character."
For many, the true highlight comes after the main race when hundreds of children charge down the High Street in the free 1K Kids Fun Run, each earning their own medal and cheers from the crowd.
After a record-breaking turnout in 2024, when entries sold out well in advance, organisers are encouraging runners to secure their place early for 2025.
