Ultra London 2022 promo

How you can become an Ultra Londoner

When a marathon isn't quite enough you need Ultra London to fill the gap

The Great Run Company launched Ultra London in 2019 and the event has since been refined and improved to the current offer of a spectacular 55K ultra-marathon or a 25K trail run that uses the southern half of the surprisingly green Capital Ring path around Greater London.

The distance depends on the start point - Woolwich for Ultra 55; Upper Norwood for Trail 25. Both races finish in leafy Richmond. There is a little elevation involved – 385m of climbing in the 25K race and 740m in the 55K run – but no mountaineering or even navigational skills are required. This is a perfect introduction to trail running or ultra-marathons and with an early bird saving of £10 now is the time to grab a number for the 2022 event on Saturday 8 October.

Ultra London offers a unique way of seeing some of London’s most scenic landscapes as you pass through glorious Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common and admire London’s skyline while staying off the beaten track. It really is the perfect way to view the city.

The fully waymarked and supported route offers a blend of urban, parkland, disused railway lines, and woodland trails giving you the chance to discover some of the city’s most historic landmarks and hidden footpaths. Suited to all ages and abilities, whether you are a seasoned ultra-runner, a walker seeking a new challenge, or a first-timer looking to push yourself Ultra London is accessible to all.

The greatest reward in taking part is always the sense of achievement as you cross the finish line but by taking your place on either of the Ultra London start lines you’re already part of something really special. Renowned for being a well-organised, safe and inclusive event, you are in the best hands with The Great Run Company.

As a previous finisher, Deena from Surrey says: "Amazing Ultra! Exploring parts of London and beautiful parks. Organisation is fantastic, with signage so easy to follow, wonderful volunteers, and excellently stocked checkpoints. Make this your first Ultra or one to tick off your list. You won’t be disappointed!"

And if that’s not enough you will also receive an exclusive finish medal and t-shirt (with the option to forgo your t-shirt in place of a donation by Ultra London to a suitable sustainable charity). You won’t want to miss out on this unforgettable experience. Sign up now and become an Ultra Londoner!
