Our Great Scottish Run Countdown Continues With Five New Twists
Our 2026 Great Scottish Run countdown continues with five new additions set to make this year's Glasgow running weekend bigger than ever....
This relates to: Great Scottish Run
Our countdown to the 2026 AJ Bell Great Scottish Run continues, and with just over a month to go, this third preview turns the spotlight onto five new additions waiting for runners in Glasgow.
First up is A Country Mile, a brand new music zone bringing country anthems and extra energy to the course. Supporters can also play their part through the new AJ Bell Motivation Station, where personal messages from friends and family could appear along the route just when a runner needs them most.
There is another reason to keep smiling. AJ Bell is creating a free race day photo opportunity on the course, giving runners the chance to capture themselves in action during the 10K or Half Marathon.
For friends and family who cannot make it to Glasgow, a new live show on GreatRunTV will follow Sunday's action from the St Vincent Street start to the finish at Glasgow Green, with the Tartan Trekker Craig Ferguson providing commentary.
The fifth change comes on Saturday. The AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great Scottish Run has a new home at Glasgow Green, where Junior, Mini, Toddler and Mascot events will open the weekend, with stars from Gladiators joining as official starters.
More than 35,000 runners are expected across the weekend on 3 and 4 October. As our countdown moves another step closer to race day, the familiar Glasgow atmosphere remains at the heart of the event, but 2026 is bringing plenty that runners and supporters have not experienced before.
You can still enter the 2026 race via the runABC race hub.
