Take on 10 along the Tay this May
Perth riverside challenge selling out fast
Entries to the Tay Ten have only been open 10 days, but they’re selling out fast.
Just over 150 of the 350 available places for the event, to be held on Sunday 8 May, remain.
Organised by the Perth Road Runners, the Tay Ten starts and finishes on the athletics track at the George Duncan arena in North Muirton, Perth.
Well known as a fast and flat course, run exclusively on hard surfaces but for a 150m section of trail path, the Tay Ten is ideal for anyone looking for a rare 10-mile PB. Most of the course steers clear of public roads and traffic, making the most of North Perth’s paths and cycleways. Parts of the route near the start and the finish will be familiar to local parkrunners.
Now in its seventh edition, the Tay Ten was first run in 2014. (Older runners will remember its predecessor, the frankly brutal Heaven and Hell Half Marathon).
With the race used by many clubs across Scotland as part of their championship series, the remaining entries are expected to sell out soon. Unfortunately, organisers are not able to host a Junior Race this year.
For those looking to set a new race record, the times to beat are from David Cole (Cambuslang Harriers, 55.09) and Annabel Simpson (Fife AC, 59.01). For the rest of us, organisers advise that due to limited access to the George Duncan arena there is a strict cut-off time of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
