Down by the River 10K

Still time to get Down by the River next weekend

Early season PBs are calling

Entries will soon be closing for one of the best chances to rack up an early season 10K PB.

The 2022 Down by the River 10K will be held next Sunday, 6 March.

More than half the available places have already been sold, with entries closing this Sunday (27 February).

Organised by the Cambuslang Harriers, the accurately measured course of the Down by the River 10K follows the Clyde Walkway towards Glasgow (to a stone’s through of the Emirates Arena) and back, on a path shared with walkers and cyclists.

Participants should note that the race start and finish are both a ‘gentle 1.5 mile warm-up/warm down’ away from registration at the Cambuslang Rugby and Sports Club, and make their plans accordingly.

Runners of all standards over the age of 17 are welcome to take part in the Down by River 10K. Runners under the age of 17 (and, this year, only runners under the age of 17) can take part in the Down by the River 3K.

The last time the race was run, in 2021, the host club made a clean sweep of the podium. Fraser Stewart took the win (31.34), followed by Stuart Gibson (32.11) and Gordon Robertson (32.43).

First lady home was Bellahouston Harriers’ Catriona MacDonald (38.26), followed by HBT’s Shona McIntosh (38.48) and the unattached Fionnuala Quinn (49.09).

Full results of previous years' editions of the Down by the River 10K are available from runABC Scotland.
