Babcock 10K Series Builds Momentum
More than 1600 entries already confirmed ahead of Scottish 10K Championships opener...
The Babcock 10K Series is shaping up to be one of the standout road running events in Scotland this spring, with more than 1600 runners already signed up ahead of the opening race.
The series gets underway on Sunday 10 May at Glasgow Green with the Babcock Shettleston 10K, which this year hosts the Lindsay’s Scottish 10K Championships. With over 600 entries already secured for the opener, the race is attracting one of the deepest fields seen in recent years.
The men’s race is expected to be highly competitive, with defending champion and series record holder Omar Ahmed set to line up alongside last year’s runner up Logan Rees and Scottish cross country champion Jamie Crowe. Cambuslang’s Kevin Campbell also looks a strong contender following his impressive 28:49 victory at the Trafford 10K earlier this year.
In the women’s race, defending champion Natasha Phillips continues her return to form and will face competition from emerging talent Brogan Wallace of Shettleston and last year’s Helensburgh winner Nynke Mulholland Stummer, who is entered across the full series.
The three race series continues with the Babcock Dumbarton 10K on Thursday 21 May and the Babcock Helensburgh 10K on Thursday 28 May, both evening events that traditionally attract strong local and national fields.
Alongside elite competition, the series maintains a strong appeal for club and recreational runners, with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal and additional prizes available across the events. Runners who complete all three races will also earn a specially designed series t shirt.
With entries still open but filling steadily, the Babcock 10K Series once again looks set to deliver a mix of high quality racing and inclusive participation across three well established Scottish events.
