Scottish Mile

Blast Off at One Miler

Do you fancy a flat, fast and furious one mile race with a guarantee of no headwind?

Are you feeling brave? Test yourself over the classic one mile distance at this year's Scottish Mile which takes place along Edinburgh's Silverknowes Promenade on 15 September. Organisers, Blast Running, say: "One mile is a tough distance when you are gunning it but it's also a fabulous distance as the challenge is short and sweet."

Now in its third year, the direction of the race is decided on the day based on the wind, meaning no head wind, the potential holy grail of a tailwind and an almost guarantee of a PB time!

There will be three heats culminating in a final and the event will consist of separate Senior and Junior races. Asides from a possible PB, there will be medals for all finishers as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male/Female and 1st Male/Female in all age categories, V40, V50, V60, V70.

Organisers are clear this is an event for everyone, saying: "Blast Running hasn't lost its values of 'Your Race Your Pace' for this event, we really do want runners of all abilities taking part and pushing themselves to their max! You will get a medal no matter your speed and who knows, you may also get a PB (personal best) which makes life a little sweeter."

Last year's race saw some very fast times across the board, with East Sutherland AC's Finlay Murray winning in 4:12 while first female was Margot Wyrwoll who clocked 5:07. The mid point runner was Morag McClelland who reached the finish line in 5:33.
