New 10K Race For Staffs

A 10K distance will be included for the first time at this family-focused running event...

Penkridge Round Table together with Penkridge Runners have unveiled plans for an all new 10K race at the village's annual Family Fun Run event. The date for the diaries is 30 June with organisers saying: "The 10K will add a thrilling twist to the event. This addition is designed to attract avid runners looking for a challenge while providing a fresh and invigorating experience for the entire community."

The Penkridge Family Fun Run has been a long-standing tradition, bringing the community together for a day of active enjoyment and family bonding. The family run will continue to cater to runners of varying abilities, ensuring that everyone, from seasoned athletes to beginners and families with young children, can partake in the joy of running. The route takes participants from the Penkridge Middle School grounds out and about the streets of Penkridge itself, with marshals helping and encouraging them along the set course.

The new 10K will allow participants to experience the picturesque charm of Staffordshire with a course that passes through the exclusive grounds of Teddesley Park and includes opportunities to glimpse herds of deer, the majestic ruins of Teddesley Stable, and the shimmering lake.

Participants in the Penkridge Runners 10K run will receive a finisher's medal, symbolising their commitment and effort. This tangible token serves as a lasting memory of the day's accomplishments, marking the completion of the run.

Organisers are excited about the event's additional race: "With a commitment to inclusivity, professional organisation and community spirit, the Penkridge Runners are set to make this year’s event a milestone in the local running calendar."
