Football tourney kicks 2020 Men’s 10K Glasgow into August

Early-bird entries to Men’s 10K Glasgow are now open, with organisers also announcing a change of date for the popular event.

Event director Sandra Scott told runABC Scotland online: “It has become tradition that the Men's 10K event in Glasgow has taken place on Father's Day and although we intend to return to this date in future years, unfortunately this wasn't possible for 2020.

“The reason for this is that Glasgow has been selected as a host city for the UEFA Euro 2020 games, which means that across June and July there will be road closures in place and football viewing areas erected at George Square, both of which impact on the Men's 10K route and finish area.”

She added: “To facilitate a change in route and finish area would have resulted in a less enjoyable route for the participants and also been very difficult to logistically manage around the football fever sweeping the city!

“We hope however, that regardless of the date change we will be joined on our new date of Sunday, 30 August by men from all walks of life who are ready to make a positive change in their lives."

The Men’s 10k has become a catalyst for thousands of men to come together and enjoy a stunning city-centre 10K. No matter how fast or slow, each and every Men's 10K runner is equal and celebrated for taking a positive step to become a fitter, healthier and happier version of themselves.

The early bird period for discounted entry closes at midnight on Sunday, 21 July 2019.
