Maximum effort at the Massey Ferguson 10K

Runners dig in again at Massey Ferguson Tractor 10K

This race kick starts the Warwickshire Road Race League.

There were stellar efforts from over 350 runners at the Massey Ferguson Tractor 10K (18 April) as they completed a fast, three lap race to finish the bank holiday on a high. There were wins for Callum Hanlon and Kelly Edwards and satisfaction in a job well done.

The first race in the Warwickshire Road Race League that also returned after a break of two years due to Covid, the Massey Ferguson Tractor 10K got the programme off to a strong start. An HS2 re-route and change of HQ posed a challenge to organisers Massey Ferguson RC but they were up to the task and delivered a competitive and enjoyable event.

What better way to burn off the extra calories from the Easter weekend chocfest than three laps around a fast and flat course at the National Agriculture & Exhibition Centre in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. There was a cut off time of 75 minutes so participants had to put their best foot forward and drinks stations at two and four miles ensured they were well hydrated.

With club and individual pride at stake, they went up a gear or several whilst saving enough for the all-important sprint finish.

Callum Hanlon won the 2022 Massey Ferguson Tractor 10K in 31:58 – the first of two victories for Leamington C & AC. Ben Kruze of Stratford-upon-Avon AC took second in 32:18 and Ian Allen of Spa Striders RC third in 32:36.

Kelly Edwards was the women’s winner in 37:04 – the second victory for Leamington C & AC. Mairi Walker of Spa Striders RC was the runner up in 39:28 with Felicity Sharp of Knowle & Dorridge RC third in 40:33.
