Inverness Half Marathon Set For Record Entries

Inverness Half returns in March and is expected to attract record numbers...

Organisers of the Inverness Half Marathon are predicting record entries for the 2026 edition of the race, which takes place on 8 March, as the continued boom in running participation shows no signs of slowing. With 40% of the UK population now running every week, demand for early-season road races is higher than ever.

The Inverness Half Marathon 2026 will once again host the Scottish Half Marathon Championships and North District Championships, marking the fourth consecutive year the event has held championship status and further underlining its growing reputation on the national running calendar.

Now in its 41st year, the Inverness Half and 5K attracts around 5,000 runners from across Scotland and the wider UK each spring. Event organiser Caledonian Concepts says interest is already strong, with places selling quickly for both distances.

Malcolm Sutherland, CEO of Caledonian Concepts, said: "We’re delighted the event has been selected to host the Scottish and North District Championships once again. Entries are selling fast so we’d encourage anyone who wishes to take part to book their place now to avoid missing out!”

As one of the first major races of the year, the Inverness Half Marathon is a popular launch point for runners setting their goals for the season ahead. The flat, scenic route winds through the Highland capital and along the River Ness, making it well known for personal best potential and an ideal tune-up for spring marathon campaigns. A 5K option is also available for those seeking a shorter challenge.

Beyond the racing, the event plays a significant role in supporting local and national causes, raising thousands of pounds each year for official charities including Alzheimer Scotland, Highland Hospice, Mikeysline, SAMH and The Archie Foundation.
