Coming together again at the Colin Potter 10K
Memorial race ready to welcome everyone after a two year absence.
It’s less than a month until the Colin Potter 10K (1 July) which returns to Darley Abbey and Darley Park following a break due to the pandemic. There is a change to the course as a result of bridge closures but the camaraderie and community spirit will remain the same.
This race was created in memory of friend and work colleague Colin Potter and fundraises for bereavement and cancer charities. All proceeds will go to these chosen causes.
The 15th Colin Potter Memorial 10K promises to be extra special with more people than ever entering this family-friendly race which is being held on a Friday evening to kick start the weekend. Take on a scenic, two lap course then relax and enjoy being able to socialise freely whilst sampling the various food and drink options. There is entertainment as well and all this hospitality is available before, during and after the race.
The race starts at 7.15pm from Derby RFC where runners follow a ‘Plan B’ route consisting of roads, paths and pavements around most of Darley Park which includes a section through the trees. This historical setting also has a tough hill which, as this is a two lap event, the runners will climb twice!
There are drinks and race mementos at the finish then a post-race massage followed by a restorative beer (or two) in the rugby club bar to ease those sore legs made even better with summer sunshine and the company of others.
Friday night is race night and there are plenty of spaces so sign up at the race entry page via the
Colin Potter 10K website.
