The Compton Half will make its debut in Wolverhampton on Sunday 27 September 2026, giving runners a new Half Marathon while raising funds for Compton Care.

Starting and finishing at Aldersley Stadium, the predominantly flat course has been designed to appeal to everyone from first time Half Marathon runners to experienced athletes looking for a personal best.

After the atmosphere of the stadium start, runners head onto fast roads before encountering a different side of Wolverhampton and the surrounding area. Green corridors, parkland, waterways and open spaces provide variety, with the route extending into South Staffordshire's Smestow Valley.

The stadium should also provide a distinctive race day focal point. Supporters can watch runners begin their challenge before welcoming them back to the track for the finish.

Behind the new race is a much bigger purpose. Compton Care provides specialist palliative and bereavement support for people living with life limiting conditions, and runners are encouraged to use their Half Marathon challenge to fundraise for its work.

The course will be fully marked with marshals and volunteers positioned along the route, together with regularly spaced water stations. Finishers will receive a bespoke medal and post race refreshments.

The Half Marathon starts from 9:00am and has a three hour and 30 minute cut off. With this being the inaugural event, everyone crossing the line at Aldersley Stadium will also have the distinction of being among the first finishers in the history of The Compton Half.

Entries are available now via the runABC race hub.
