Run Gatwick Family Run Open For Entries
British Airways Run Gatwick organisers have announced that entries are open for the Family Run taking place on Sunday 13th May 2018 at Crawley’s Southgate Park however there is now less than a month to get your little heroes signed up to this prestigious new event.
The Family Run over one mile of safe, traffic-free roads is one of four races taking place at the inaugural British Airways Run Gatwick, comprising an international half marathon, a 5K and a Corporate 5K. The Family Run is a fantastic opportunity for kids from four years to experience the thrill of a big sporting event.
A total of 1,200 places are available for the Family Run and the race is already proving highly popular with youngsters from the local area as well as those with grown-ups running in the adult races on the same day. The event gives children an opportunity to develop a passion for running and fitness as well as an amazing feeling of accomplishment as they train for their run and enjoy being cheered on by hundreds of spectators on the day.
All young runners will enjoy a pre-race warm up and finishers will receive a bespoke medal, water, banana and a T-shirt for their efforts, just like the grown-ups in the main events. In the run-up to the event race organisers will be sending out information on how kids can prepare for the big day, along with a fun training plan. As the days get longer and warmer, this is the perfect time of year to encourage fitness and a great way for families to get active together.
British Airways Run Gatwick is organised by the same team behind the award-winning Run Reigate Half Marathon and 10K, Intersport Run Reigate won Gold for Best Half Marathon at The 2017 Running Awards and has again been shortlisted for the 2018 awards.
Race director Dave Kelly said: “Now is the time to sign up to the Family Run and get children excited about this superb day of sport. The one-mile route in and around Crawley is perfect for young runners of all ages and abilities. They will receive fantastic support all the way round and love being cheered on as they cross the finish line and receive their well-deserved medal. Adults wishing to take part in the other events are encouraged to sign up now, too, and secure their place on the start line of what promises to be a thrilling set of races. We are looking forward to welcoming runners young and old to the very first British Airways Run Gatwick.”
