Windsor Festival Runs On
The 41st Windsor Running Festival drew 4,394 runners to the Great Park...
The Windsor Running Festival is an autumn institution and the 41st edition over the weekend of 26-27 September 2025 maintained the tradition, with 4,394 runners finishing in the two main events on the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park.
On Saturday, 26 September, it was ladies' day for the Windsor Women's 10K as 1,044 women were led home by Hannah Maher, of City of Norwich AC, in a brisk 38:06. W40 Charlotte Firth (Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow AC, 40:25) and Sinead Hanson (Bracknell Road Runners, 41:30) completed the winners' rostrum.
Over 250 women beat the hour on the undulating course, which affords spectacular views of the Royal Estate, passing the Copper Horse statue, the Royal Lodge, and the Jubilee Statue before the fast, downhill finish toward the spectacular sight of Windsor Castle. All 1,044 finishers were home in less than two hours.
The following day, men bolstered the field for the Windsor Half Marathon, which ventured further into the Great Park, with a section through private grounds not normally accessible to the public. This raised the numbers to 3,350 of whom 1,288 were female.
James McMurray was in a hurry as he blasted round in 1:05:28. This was a personal best by 42 seconds for the St Albans AC athlete, a prodigious effort on a challenging course. The runners-up were Harry Smith (Southampton AC, 1:07:19 PB) and Hagos Abrha (Reading AC, 1:09:01). Theo Doran (Aldershot Farnham & District AC, 1:09:06) also beat 70 minutes on his half-marathon debut.
W45 master Lesley Locks (Aldershot Farnham & District AC, 1:22:29) retained the women's title, running two minutes faster than last year! Amy Goodwin (unattached, 1:24:18) and Catherine O'Connor (St Albans Striders, 1:24:49) enjoyed a good battle for runners-up honours.
Results and reports are at runABC South race listing here (10K) and here (half marathon).
