The Bridgwater Half Marathon returns this September, bringing runners of all abilities together for one of Somerset's best loved community running events. With Half Marathon, 10K and 5K distances on offer, the event combines fast rural roads, a welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to support Cancer Research UK.

Starting and finishing at Morganians Rugby Football Club, the routes head into the Somerset countryside on predominantly flat roads, making them an excellent choice for runners chasing a personal best as well as those taking on a new distance. The Half Marathon follows a UKA measured course, while the 10K shares much of the same scenic route before returning to the finish. The family friendly 5K welcomes runners, walkers and fancy dress participants of all ages, creating a true festival feel.

Race day offers far more than the run itself. A lively runners' village, refreshments, hot food, a licensed bar, pre and post race massage, chip timing and a commemorative finisher's medal all help create a memorable experience, while enthusiastic marshals and local volunteers provide support from start to finish.

If you're planning to take part, arriving early will give you plenty of time to collect your race number, warm up and enjoy the race village before the first start. The mostly flat course rewards sensible pacing, so resist the temptation to go off too quickly and you'll be well placed to enjoy the closing miles back to Morganians Rugby Football Club.
