The Stopsley Trail Race returns on Sunday 9 August 2026, bringing runners back to the scenic trails that straddle the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire border. Organised by Stopsley Striders, the popular summer event offers a choice of 5K, 5 Mile and 10 Mile races, making it equally appealing to first time trail runners and seasoned off road enthusiasts.
Starting and finishing at Inspire: Luton Sports Village, the routes follow a varied mix of trails, footpaths and bridleways through rolling countryside. The undulating terrain provides an enjoyable challenge while rewarding runners with attractive rural scenery and a true taste of trail running close to Luton.
Runners can choose the accessible 5K, step up to the 5 Mile route or tackle the 10 Mile race, which completes two laps of the course. All three races start together, creating a vibrant atmosphere before the field spreads out across the countryside.
Chip timing, finisher medals and prizes for the leading three male and female runners add to a professionally organised race day. Water stations are positioned around the course, while Inspire: Luton Sports Village provides free parking, changing rooms, showers, lockers, baggage facilities and an on site café for post race refreshments.
Whether you're looking to discover trail running for the first time or searching for a rewarding summer challenge, the Stopsley Trail Race offers a friendly atmosphere, varied off road terrain and three distances to suit every ability. Entries are still open, but with race day now just around the corner, runners hoping to take part should secure their place soon.
