runABC is in the process of upgrading and improving its online service so you might encounter the odd glitch over the next week or so but rest assured we’re working on them and the new site will be a fantastic resource for our running community.

Go Forth virtually over the bridge for SAMH

If you weren’t one of the 400-odd runners lucky enough to get a place in this year’s Forth Road Bridge 10K before it sold out you’ll miss the opportunity to sign up for the next best thing if you don’t act quickly.

Just a handful of places remain for the ‘Forth Road Bridge Virtual 10K’, organised by members of Ready, Steady, Go Pitreavie.

Runners signing up for the virtual event can run any 10k route they like, in their own time – as long as it crosses the bridge.

Runners have until 31 October to register and until 31 December to complete their run.

In a move that both cuts down on waste and allows more money to be raised for charity, Pitreavie AAC – organisers of the ‘real life’ Forth Road Bridge 10K – have kindly donated the medals left over from their own race earlier in the summer to the organisers of the virtual version.

As it happens, Pitreavie AAC have some experience with virtual races: they organised their own Virtual Forth Road Bridge 10K in 2018 – with in a slightly different format – when the 'real life' version of the event had to be cancelled due to works on the bridge.

All funds raised from the virtual run will benefit SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), the charity that provides training for jogscotland jog leaders – incuding those at Ready, Steady, Go Pitreavie, in how they can provide a warm and welcoming environment in their groups, encourage people to talk, and promote good mental health more generally through exercise.
