Ready For The Whole Hog?
Want a 'crackling' event? The Whole Hog could be just the ticket...
Are you ready to go the Whole Hog? Or to tackle the more extreme Boss Hog? If you are looking for a crackling event...then read on. We may have just the thing for you in darkest Suffolk...
The Whole Hog and Boss Hog obstacle course races have been held at Wantisden Hall Farms, Bentwater Road, near Woodbridge for almost 20 years and have developed into one of the most popular and exciting examples of the genre, with up to 750 runners competing with various degrees of skill and ambition!
The point of these events is that they are a challenge. One that can be tackled solo or as a team, while raising vital funds for the event charity Ormiston Families – working with families in need across the East of England.
There are four waves starting hourly from 9:30am, with the final wave underway at 12:30pm. Participants can race solo or compete as a team. Physical help is encouraged at the obstacles. There are more than 30 special 'challenges' in the approximately five miles of the Whole Hog rising to 40+ obstacles/seven miles in the Boss Hog.
To give you some idea of what lies ahead, here is a video of a recent event to 'wet' your appetite...
The event website describes the obstacles provided: "You can expect to be crawling (under cargo nets), climbing (up steep banks and walls), wading through rivers (never swimming), tunnels, slides, jumps, swings and monkey bars. Expect to be tired, expect to be wet and muddy, and expect to go the Whole Hog!"
The race is particularly well suited to first-timers like Charlee who debuted last year: "So yesterday I did my first The Whole Hog “boss hog” with the ATP Fitness family and can I just say it was one of the best things I have done/accomplished. I never thought I’d be fit enough to do something like this and it was awesome. I’m so proud of everyone. You are all amazing for doing it and we finished strong as a team."
The next Whole Hog and Boss Hog event is on Sunday 5 October 2025 and entries are open at the official website here. Early entry is advised as this event sells out and early bookers get the best prices.
Previous results and race details are at the runABC race listing here.
