Moo-ve Over For MK Marathon
Scenic course – stadium finish – pastries for all! MK Marathon Weekend is a tasty treat...
In the town known for its concrete cows, it's no surprise to find runners in full Bovine costume with names like Moo-sain Bolt, Moo Farah, and Cowabunga taking part in the Milton Keynes Marathon Weekend – as seen in the official event video from last year...
This year's Milton Keynes celebration of running is on May 4-5, 2025 on the Early May Bank Holiday weekend. The Rocket 5K starts proceedings on Sunday 4 May at the Wetherspoon Pub on Midsummer Boulevard on a super-fast, slightly downhill course to the 30,350 seater Stadium:MK. Rocket 5K blasts off at 9:00am and there will be a pastry treat for all finishers courtesy of the race sponsors Pasquier Brioche!
The magnificent Stadium:MK hosts the start and finish of Bank Holiday Monday's events. The Milton Keynes Marathon route showcases the beauty and charm of the original villages that make up this unique city. Runners pass through five original villages, each boasting thatched cottages and ancient churches that date back centuries. The leafy lanes provide a breathtaking backdrop for athletes as they push themselves to conquer the picturesque course. The route offers a blend of tree-lined city boulevards, quaint village charm, and picturesque scenery.
Running through the Open University Campus adds an extra layer to the marathon, with its sleek buildings and inviting atmosphere, making it a truly unforgettable experience for all participating. The Redway footpaths that connect urbanisations and the many parks and lakes that comprise this modern city are perfect for long-distance running events.
Bank Holiday Monday's programme will see the Milton Keynes Marathon and Half Marathon starting at 9:00am. Half an hour later the Superhero Fun Run will keep the family entertained. Suitable for all ages and abilities the one-mile course enjoys the same Stadium:MK finish as the main events. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner, a casual jogger or a family looking for a fun day out, the MK Marathon Weekend provides the perfect platform for everyone.
"We are excited to bring the MK Marathon Weekend back to Stadium:MK for 2025 after such a tremendous response in previous years. This event truly brings the community together, encouraging everyone to join in the spirit of running, whether competing or cheering from the sidelines," says Scarlett Chambers, Event Coordinator.
As a special incentive, all participants who register for the event before 10 February 2025 can purchase an exclusive sublimation printed event t-shirt for just £10.00! This stylish, comfortable shirt commemorates your achievement and shows your MK Marathon pride.
