Stone Master Marathoners Spring Treble

Three Races, Three Unique Challenges

Head to Staffordshire for this spring three-race classic...

The Stone Master Marathoners Spring Treble is back for 2025, offering runners a challenging and scenic series of off-road races across Staffordshire’s countryside. Taking place over three consecutive Thursday evenings in April, this popular annual series provides the perfect early-season test for runners of all abilities.

First held over 15 years ago, the event is dedicated to the memory of David Upton, a former club member and long-time Race Director, who helped establish the Spring Treble as a must-run event on the local calendar. Organisers comment: "We invite you to experience the challenge and camaraderie of the Spring Treble. With stunning trails, tough hills, and a fantastic post-race atmosphere, this event is a firm favourite in the local running community."

Each race covers a tough, hilly course of around 4 to 5 miles, giving participants a true test of fitness as they shake off the winter miles. Up first on 10 April is the Kibblestone Klamber, a technical, undulating course at Kibblestone International Scout Camp which features steep ascents and descents that push runners to their limits.

On 17 April runners can look forward to a spectacular trail race through Cannock Chase, starting near the Marquis Visitor Centre, with a mix of forest paths, rolling hills, and challenging climbs.

Completing the trilogy on 24 April is the Barlaston Ups and Downs, a thrilling finale at Oulton Cricket Club, featuring a fast downhill sprint for the first mile before heading into the stunning National Trust Downs Banks and finishing with a punishing uphill climb to the finish line.

Whether you’re a seasoned club runner or someone looking for an enjoyable challenge, the Spring Treble guarantees fantastic camaraderie and a supportive atmosphere. Runners can sign up for the full series or individual races with entries available online or on the day.

After the final race, runners can relax at Oulton Cricket Club for the prize presentation – and maybe even a celebratory pint!
