Running Through Midlands History
Head to Bakewell for a whole weekend of scenic racing...
Experience one of the most scenic races in the Peak District with the Monsal Trail April Half Marathon & 10K. Set along the stunning Monsal Trail, this event takes runners on a journey through history and nature, following the route of a former Midland Railway line.
The race action takes place at Bakewell on 5/6 April with both 10K and half marathon races running on both days. The race weekend provides runners with the chance to run through stunning Peak District scenery on traffic-free trails. These races are all ideal for spring marathon training.
Organisers, Nice Work, told us: "Starting at the old Bakewell Station, the races wind through historic railway tunnels and across the breathtaking Monsal Viaduct, offering panoramic views of the Derbyshire Dales. The flat, traffic-free courses make them the perfect events for runners of all abilities, whether you’re aiming for a new PB or just soaking in the iconic Peak District scenery."
All those taking part will receive a bespoke finisher’s medal and there will be free professional race photos.
Runners and supporters can make the most of the day by heading to Hassop Station Café, just a short warm-up run from the start. With parking, spectator facilities, and fantastic food and drinks, it’s the perfect spot to refuel and celebrate your achievement.
Whether you’re tackling the half marathon, the 10K, or both, this event promises unforgettable views and an incredible running experience.
