Courtly Running

Entering this race means you get entry to one of Gloucestershire's most beautiful estates...

Runners will once again have the rare opportunity to explore the private grounds of one of Gloucestershire’s most beautiful estates when the Great Highnam Court Run returns on 27 September. Organised by Highnam Court Cricket Club, the event offers both 5K and 10K options, starting and finishing at the Pavilion before following a multi-terrain route through the landscaped gardens and lakes of Highnam Court.

Organisers say: "With kind permission from estate owner Roger Head, the course takes runners along gravel paths, footpaths and pastureland, passing the lakes and the renowned Holy Innocents Church – one of the most significant Victorian churches in the country."

The course is predominantly level, with just 16m of elevation over 5K and a maximum gradient of 6%, making it accessible for runners of varying abilities. The grounds will be open to spectators for the event, and every finisher will receive a medal.

The race has built a loyal following thanks to its unique setting, with previous participants praising its beauty and organisation: “In all the runs I have done so far this was by far the most beautiful surroundings." and “The course was tough, but so pretty. We were very lucky to be able to run in safety in such lovely grounds.”
