Ultimate Running in the Midlands
Roy Castle's Ultimate Run Series is back, will you Smash Sherwood, or Conquer Cannock?
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation's Ultimate Run Series is back for 2024 and good news for runners in the Midlands as there are two local events to choose from. Granted, one of them is fairly imminent with the Smash Sherwood event scheduled for 30 June but the second is a little further into summer with Conquer Cannock all set for 28 July.
There is also a third event , which is a little further north in Cheshire's Delamere Forest, so maybe you could Defeat Delamere on 15 September too? All three events have a choice of distances, so runners can opt for a 5K or 10K race experience.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation have teamed up with Forestry England to host this competitive series across the UK, speaking about the events a spokesperson from Roy Castle said: "Join us to smash, conquer and defeat these runs throughout 2024!"
The Sherwood event will see runners take on the rugged terrain of this hidden forest with stunning views at every turn. With a variety of long downhills and straight runs, runners will get into a strong constant tempo that will push them to the finish line.
At Conquer Cannock runners can expect mixed terrain, hills, loose surfaces and exposed tree roots with marshalls dotted throughout the forest trail as runners make the most of the incredible sights of the forest.
Delamere provides runners with the thrill of running through a gorgeous woodland site, over winding gravel paths, pushing themselves through a mixture of inclines dotted around the route.
