Back In Berwickshire With a New Date
It's a new date for the final leg of the Foxtrail Winter Running Series...
Originally scheduled for earlier in the year, the third race in the Foxtrail Winter Running Series will now take place on 27 April; so if you fancy some coastal running action then there are still some spots available for Pole to Pole Coldingham.
This coastal trail run is a challenging event on the beautiful Berwickshire coast with both 5K and 17.5K distances on offer. With slight modifications due to the date change, the route comprises of off-road trail running using a range of paths, trails, minor roads and farmland. The start and finish will be at Scoutscroft Caravan Park and will involve a small stretch of running on sand.
Of the longer event organisers say: "This is truly a multi terrain event with 17.5K of farm tracks, undulating cliff top paths, woodland trails, sandy beaches and even a little bit of tarmac. The route takes you out to the pretty village of St Abbs before climbing up to the sweeping clifftops with spectacular views out to sea before heading back inland via farm tracks and woodland paths which sweep you back to the beautiful Coldingham Bay."
The 5K takes runners out towards St Abbs before heading back towards the beach via a cliff top path. The course then winds its way up to the finish line in the main village of Coldingham. This run is a mixture of quiet roads, farm tracks and coastal paths.
Coldingham Beach itself is about 1 kilometre long and 200 metres wide. It faces east so is a good place to catch the early morning sun. The clean sands are backed by plenty of grassy areas and the area itself has a relaxed, rural feel to it. In short, it is a fantastic place to spend the day - the on beach cafe is fantastic too!
