Three's The Magic Number In Preston

There's a new multi-day event heading to Lancashire next spring...

12-14 May will see a new multi-day event come to Lancashire courtesy of PFW Running in 2023, and in case you're unsure what the PFW stands for it is Preston, Fylde and Wyre which will give some indication as to the location of the three events which make up the spring-time weekend series.

Up first is the Brockholes Bimble on Friday 12 May. This will take place in the beautiful grounds of Brockholes Nature Reserve near Preston. The reserve is owned by the Wildlife Trust and is a haven for birds and other wildlife, it is also home to the UK's first floating visitor centre.

There will be 10K, half marathon and marathon distances on offer and the course will be on the paths around the reserve passing several of the lakes, the River Ribble and beautiful woodlands.

The Cottam Canter is up next on Saturday 13 May at the UCLan sports arena in Cottam. This event will be a 6-hour challenge in which those taking part can decide how far they want to run. Runners may decide to run one lap, several laps or go for the full 6 hours, whatever they want! Whether you are looking to complete your first mile, run with friends, complete your first half marathon or simply looking to set yourself a new challenge this is the ideal event.

Completing the trio of race on offer is the Avenham Amble which will take place on Sunday 16 May around the stunning parklands of central Preston. Starting in Avenham Park by the side of the River Ribble, the course will pass through Miller Park before heading over the river into Upper Farm Nature Reserve & Leisure Park. Runners will then head back over the river and finish back in Avenham Park. As with the Bimble, there will be 10K, half marathon and marathon distances to choose from.

You can enter the races individually or go the whole hog and have a three-day extravaganza of running. To further entice you, organisers say: "We will keep you supplied with sweet and savoury snacks, water, cordial and coke. And all runners will recieve a bespoke medal as well as post run goodies."
