Chase is on for the Cannock Rotary 10K
Participants face more than a few inclines in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The stunning surrounds of Cannock Chase will echo to the sound of pounding feet this Sunday (20 November) as runners take on a tough yet scenic 10K. If they are lucky they may spot fallow deer roaming in this former royal forest.
A conservation area as well as an AONB, Cannock Chase is a popular visitor attraction with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its heaths, woodland, parkland and conifer plantations. These are perfect for off-road exploring.
Sunday’s action is on rural roads over The Chase, on what has been described as a “demanding course, it’s very hilly” with water stations, great views and enthusiastic support – all of which is brought to you by OP Events and the Rotary Club of Cannock. The race starts at 11am on Birches Valley Road not far from the Visitor Centre and finishes at the junction of Marquis Drive (looking back to the Visitor Centre).
Finishers receive a medal and goody bag and may decide to follow this with a post-race massage - which could be just what the doctor ordered after all the climbing! There are pre-race massages as well to loosen up the muscles beforehand, ensuring they are supple and ready for racing.
Fingers crossed for dry and sunny weather this weekend which will show Cannock Chase at its autumnal best.
