A popular addition to the Asda Foundation series and formerly known as the Ramathon, Derby Half Marathon came under new management last year when not-for-profit company Run For All took over at the helm. It proved to be a sound decision as the 2018 race was a well-organised and supported event.

The organisers aim to build upon the success of last year’s race and hope the new city centre start and finish will prove to be a winner along with the rest of the fast, PB-potential course. Apart from the Iron Gate start/finish the route remains the same – a mix of town and country featuring landmarks such as Derby Cathedral, the iconic Pride Park Stadium, Alvaston Park and Elvaston Castle Country Park.

There will be plenty of crowd support around the route, four water stations to keep hydration levels topped up and two, High-5 energy gel stations for fuelling requirements. Eventeer groups will entertain and motivate runners on their way to Iron Gate and a funnel of applause that will boost their sprint finishes as the adrenaline kicks in.

As soon as they cross the finish line runners will be presented with a bespoke medal, technical T-shirt and goody bag. There are also medals and goody bags for entrants in the 2K Timms Solicitors Family Fun Run.
