Muddy Woody 6

Tough, But Worth It!

If you like ups, downs and a good trudge through sludge then this race will tick a lot of boxes...

Any race that has stood the test of time for a quarter of a century must be doing something right, and with the Muddy Woody 6 looking forward to its 26th anniversary outing in 2024 this is a race that clearly falls into that category.

Despite its longevity this race is 'not for the faint-hearted' with some steep climbs and sharp descents. But if that doesn't put you off, and we're sure it won't, then the date for the diary is 11 February 2024. Organisers, Wye Valley Runners, say: "Join us for the iconic and original winter woodland race!"

The challenging 6 mile race takes place on the forest tracks, trails and footpaths of Haugh Woods near Hereford an 850 acre, attractive woodland with views across the Herefordshire Hills. Speaking of hills, as we said, there are tough climbs along the way and the race itself has approx 1000ft of elevation which will test the hardiest of runners!

And then there is the mud, runners can expect lots of that and a water crossing is part of the fun too! Organisers say: "Make sure your laces are fastened tightly when you reach the mud and grin (or grimace) as you battle through; to cheers and shouts of encouragement from enthusiastic marshals on a well marked course."

There are prizes courtesy of Wye Valley Brewery, a technical t-shirt for every finisher, goody bag and refreshments. The latter will go down a treat after 6 demanding miles.
