A Race For Every Pace
Four races; 3,000 runners; Milton Keynes Festival of Running had it all covered...
The iconic Xscape Snowzone and entertainment complex in the heart of Milton Keynes was the venue for another classic Milton Keynes Festival of Running on Sunday, 15th March 2026.
There were four race distances and a total of 2,916 finishers. The colourful medal proudly proclaimed: A Race For Every Pace. That was evident, with a choice of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or 20 Miles, and experienced pacers in the Half Marathon and 20 miles to help you every step of the way.
All the races start on the city’s wide dual carriageways before heading into surprisingly scenic routes on the roads and the famous Redway cycle paths of Milton Keynes. Organised with the running experts at Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club, runners could count on smooth logistics, great vibes and incredible marshal and crowd support out on the course.
The 20 Mile race starts proceedings at 09:50am, and the Half Marathon – first run in 2002 – brings the curtain down with a 10:45am start. The two shorter races have their own starts between the flagship events, so there is always something going on at the Race HQ.
Sam Wray (unattached, 1:57:16) led the way in the longest race. Two more men went under two hours: George Phillips (Beeston AC, 1:58:47) and Matthew Howes (Northampton AC, 1:59:04).
The top three women were Alice Lambert (Bedford & County AC, 2:05:30), Stella Cross (Wetherby Runners, 2:11:36) and Johanna Dear (Leighton Buzzard AC, 2:14:05).
There was a big cheer for local star Steven Tuttle (Marshall Milton Keynes AC, 1:12:29), who won the Half Marathon by eight minutes from Owen Watkins (Stevenage & North Herts AC, 1:20:20) and M40 Paul Shotton (Rugby & Northampton AC, 1:21:14).
Emily Smith (Charnwood AC, 1:24:40) led a trio of W35 masters in the women's race. The other podium places were claimed by Jemma Roughley (Redway Runners, 1:28:42) and Kath Stewart (Buckingham & Stowe AC, 1:33:09).
The 10K was marginally more popular than the half marathon, with 952 finishers in 1:47:52. The winners here were Ed Knudsen (Daventry AC, 33:20) and Agnieszka Wilk (Poland, 39:29).
A quality 5K was won by Marshall Milton Keynes athletes Lloyd Tanganyika (16:23) and under-20 junior Madeleine Pearce (17:24), who was third overall behind M40 Chris Wood (Rugby & Northampton AC, 17:12).
