Marches School Oswestry Olympians 10K Medal

Back to the Marches School, Oswestry 10K

Second outing for this Shropshire based 10K and children’s fun run.

This Sunday (27 February) sees the Marches School Oswestry 10K out on the town again and excitement is building ahead of the event. Runners can look forward to a mainly flat course on closed roads and plenty of support from the inhabitants of this historic market town.

Another event that was affected by the pandemic, the Marches School Oswestry Olympians 10K returns after almost two years – their inaugural race was held on 1 March 2020. A closed road course gives runners a good chance of a PB as well as a sightseeing tour of the town chosen as a Conservation Area and close to the English – Welsh border.

There is a children’s 2K fun run at 8.30am followed by a warm up for the main event at 8.45am then the 10K itself at 9am. The recent storms meant organisers Oswestry Olympians had to make a few changes to the start and finish which can be seen on an updated map at their website. There is also a map of the full course

The route goes from the school and around the town, passing well known landmarks such as St Oswald’s Church, Wilfred Owen Green and Cambrian Heritage Railways & Museum. There is a water station on the course with the option to add more depending upon the weather which is forecast as sunny intervals and a gentle breeze.

There are prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Senior Male and Female; 1st U20 Male and Female and age category winners. All 10K finishers receive a bespoke medal and t-shirt: medal for 2K fun runners.

It’s not too late to enter. Register now via the Oswestry Olympians website.
