Great Things Happen At Night
Run through the night at this North Berwick ultra event...
The John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon returns to the East Lothian coast on 9 November and will once again see runners take on a well-marked 5K trail loop to see who can cover the most ground in six hours, all under cover of darkness.
Organisers say: "If you think you could keep going for six hours and would love the drama of taking part in the dark, with music, lights and maybe even some fire on hand then a solo slot is for you. The loop passes through the tented base on each lap where there will be space for kit, food, and support and the temptation to decide whether to go again."
Perhaps though you'd rather make it a night out with your friends. If so, teams of up to three can run the loop as many or as few times as you wish. Organisers told us: "Past experience has shown folk enjoy the atmosphere, the cool competition, and doing the route with pals. We will have music, lights, food, and a certain relaxed way to have fun in the dark."
There is another way to be involved and that is to volunteer. By helping out at the event you will receive a race memento and a donation towards your club or charitable group. You will also leave in the knowledge that your smile and encouragement helped towards the enjoyment of all the race day competitors having a healthy and fun day out.
