Take On A NU Challenge
Fancy a challenge that focuses on both physical achievement and personal transformation?
Following a successful summer event in Gullane, NU Limits Running is gearing up for the next stages of its 2025 race calendar, with two challenges set to test runners in some of Scotland’s most scenic forest landscapes.
The next opportunity for runners to push beyond their limits comes on 18 October at Tentsmuir Forest, where participants will take on an 8-hour trail challenge on a looped course. This will be followed by the Borders 8-Hour Challenge on 22 November, held in the rugged surroundings of Borders Forest Park.
A spokesperson for NU Limits Running said: “Our running events are more than just races - they’re transformative journeys. Whether you’re new to the running world, chasing personal records or forging new physical and mental capabilities, our events are your gateway to reaching new heights and embracing the extraordinary.”
The format for both upcoming events is straightforward but demanding. Participants will attempt to complete as many 4.366-mile laps as possible within an 8-hour time limit. Each course offers its own unique challenge, with 85 feet of ascent per lap at Tentsmuir and 480 feet per lap in the Borders.
After July’s Gullane event, runner Murray Steele reflected on the experience: “This was a great event. Very well organised, lots of encouragement from officials, fellow participants and supporters, and a great environment to push your limits. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone thinking of an ultra distance event.”
