This year, Scottish trail running company, Girls on Hills Ltd, based in Glencoe itself, will be delivering recce weekends for three of the four races, as well as a programme of guided walks for spectators.

Girls on Hills will be the official and exclusive provider of these events, supported by sponsors Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports.

Director Keri Wallace told runABC Scotland online: “These events are open to both men and women, and will be led by local professionally qualified guides with experience of the event. Runners can expect a safe and high-quality experience with someone who is extremely knowledgeable about the race, the route and the challenging Glencoe terrain. Whether you are new to skyrunning, new to the area, or simply seeking familiarity with the race route, and aiming to do as well as possible on the day, then these are the events for you!”

The Ring of Steall recce will be held on 18 May, the Glencoe Skyline recce on 29 & 30 June and the Ben Nevis Ultra recce on 6 & 7 July.

Places on the recces are limited, and organisers are expecting them to be in demand with the increasing popularity of skyrunning as a sport in both the UK and overseas.

A programme of guided walks will also be available for supporters and spectators over the race weekend. Some of these will be challenging hikes to high summits with great views over the competing field, while others will be easier, low-level hikes which still intercept the race routes, allowing friends and family to cheer on the runners and experience the raw excitement of skyrunning in Scotland.
