Forest Running Makes Its Return
Forestry England is inviting you to 'run forest run' in its annual race series...
Foresty England's running series is back for the 2022-2023 running season with dates and locations across England, including a few 'Up North'. Forest Runner is a series of 5 and 10K events that will be hosted at 12 of Forestry England's beautiful forests.
The series runs from 11 September to 19 March 2023 with early bird tickets on sale for the 2022 events from now until 5 April! Profits from Forest Runner sales help Forestry England to grow, shape and care for your local forest, now and for future generations.
As we are not quite in spring, there is a while to wait for a bona fide Northern event, but Cannock Chase in the Midlands might do the trick if you can't wait! Taking place on 18 September, runners are invited to run amongst the peace and tranquillity of Cannock Chase Forest in Staffordshire. Both the 5 and 10K routes offer spectacular views, and the opportunity to explore the wider forest.
Into October and the first Northern event is scheduled for 23 October at County Durham's Hamsterley Forest. Runners will take in the beautiful valley views and explore the stunning forest with waymarked running trails dotted with pieces of art.
If you like to have dates in the diary then 5 March 2023 will see the series arrive in Cheshire's Delamere Forest. Run through the forest's mature trees on tracks and trails in the heart of the Cheshire plain. Both routes are on a mixture of forest tracks and trails with a few undulations along the way.
Yorkshire runners are catered for a week later (12 March) at Dalby Forest where they can look forward to stunning views over the unique ‘rigg and dale’ landscape of Dalby Forest.
