New race for Edinburgh in the New Year

Durty Events and Triathlon Edinburgh, organisers of award-winning events throughout Scotland, have joined forces with the City of Edinburgh Council to launch the Edinburgh Winter Run, a packed programme of running events for all the family at Holyrood Park.

The inaugural event will be held on Saturday, 1 February, with early bird pricing for all events available from now until New Year’s Day.

The main race at the Edinburgh Winter Run will be a ‘tough but achievable’ 5K, held on an undulating single-lap course that winds clockwise around the iconic Arthur’s Seat. The 5K, which will organisers say will provide ‘magnificent view of Edinburgh’, is open to all runners aged 13 and over.

The Edinburgh Winter Run will also include the Toddler Dash, a 100-metre dash for the finish line for children aged 18 months to 5 years old, accompanied by an adult, and the Family Mile, a flat one-mile loop starting and finishing on Queen’s Drive. For the Family Mile, children 3–8 must be accompanied by a maximum of two adults; those over 8 can run on their own.

The Edinburgh Winter Run starts and finishes on Queen’s Drive, located on the north side of Arthur’s Seat beside Holyrood Palace. Organisers are keen to point out that road closures on Queen’s Drive will be in force on the day of the event and that there will be no parking within Holyrood Park on race day.

Entry to all races includes chip timing, water at the finish line and a memento.

Entries to the Edinburgh Winter Run are now open on Entry Central.
