Get Ready To Go Round Again
With its historic setting and fast course this 10K is a highlight of the Scottish running calendar...
The Round The Houses 10K returns to Grangemouth Sports Stadium on 31 August, once again hosted by Falkirk Victoria Harriers. Traditionally a spring fixture, this year’s race has moved to a late summer slot, offering runners a chance to chase personal bests on a flat and fast course under (hopefully) sunnier skies.
The race incorporates the East District 10K Road Championship and offers participants the unique opportunity to start and finish on the same track that once welcomed Commonwealth athletes. The stadium provides excellent support from spectators, with the surrounding route also drawing crowds who help push runners on to the finish line.
For younger runners and families, the event also includes a 2K Fun Run, open to children aged five and up and their parents. While there are no prizes for speed in the fun run, all participants will receive a medal and a shoe bag to mark their achievement.
The 10K main event also honours the legacy of Jim Dingwall, one of Scotland’s greatest endurance runners. The winner of the race will receive the Jim Dingwall Memorial Trophy, named after the former FVH member and international athlete who passed away in 2005. Dingwall competed for Scotland and Britain, took part in the Commonwealth Games and world cross-country championships and won a medal at the London Marathon.
A £100 bonus prize is on offer for any runner who can break the current course records, both set on the updated course introduced in 2017. The men’s record stands at 30:04, set by Robbie Simpson in 2019, while the women’s best is 33:25, set by Annabel Simpson in 2022.
