Last Call for Granite City Santas

Runners of all ages hoping to take part in the Granite City’s Santa Run (Saturday, 15 December) had better get their skates on: entries to the popular event close this Sunday, 9 December. Now in its fourth year, the Aberdeen Santa Run is a highlight of the city’s festive calendar.

The Aberdeen Santa Run is jointly organised by Aberdeen Sports Village and CHAS (Children’s Hospices across Scotland), and is very family friendly, offering all festive participants a choice of events.

The city’s Santas can run, jog or walk a 5km route, made up of a mix of track and pavements, at 11am, or take on the Santa Mile Dash: a fully accessible event for held on the track at the Aberdeen Sports Village (10.30am).

Children of all ages are welcome to take part in both events, but those under eight years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

All participants will receive a Santa suit with hat, a Christmas medal and a goody bag. There’ll also be a Christmas Market in the registration area, with a range of gifts and food for sale – perfect for last minute Christmas shopping, or post-race snacking.

Athough St Nicholas himself is the patron saint of Aberdeen, it is not known whether the big man himself will be making an appearance on the day with, or without, his trainers.
