Dundee's Christmas Delivery
Get your festive season off to a great start with Leisure & Culture Dundee’s Santa Dash...
It wouldn't be Christmas without a sack-load of Santa Dashes taking place in towns up and down the country and one event that will be making its festive comeback this December is Leisure & Culture Dundee's Santa Dash which is set to grace the city's streets on 4 December.
Known for the three J's (jute, jam and journalism), this yule-tide offering makes sure that Dundee is known for Jogging as well and with two fun-filled routes on offer, there's something for the whole family to get their teeth into. Beginning in Dundee's City Square, the race takes runners on a 2K route through the city centre with Santas able to choose to do one lap or two before finishing up back in City Square.
Of course, all of this will be done wearing the requisite Santa suit, which organisers say can be collected from Central Library or Dundee Ice Arena up until 3 December. Children aged 3-4 years will receive a Santa hat rather than a suit although organisers do encourage everyone to dress up to add to the fun!
This year, the Dash is raising money for Dundee Bairns – Fun & Food Programme, a children’s charity, supporting community projects that are in areas of high multiple deprivation to target the most vulnerable children. The charity's primary cause is to challenge food inequality for children and to provide nutritious meals, as well as other basic needs, thus reducing pressure on parents to provide and helping to boost community cohesion.
A spokesperson from Leisure & Culture Dundee said: "Get involved, feel good and help raise funds for this fantastic cause!" Not only will runners have a sense of pride for helping such a great cause, they will also be rewarded with medals and certificates upon completing the route. And there will also be spot prizes on the day!
