Dry January 10K Offers Runners A Healthy Start To 2026

Dry January 10K 2026 takes place on 1 February at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, offering runners a supportive 5K or 10K event to mark the end of the Dry January challenge...

After the festive excesses of December, many runners look to January as a chance to reset. For those taking on Dry January in 2026, there is an event that combines an alcohol free challenge with a positive start to the running year.

The Dry January 10K returns on 1 February at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, offering runners the chance to celebrate the end of the month with a 5K or 10K race, as well as virtual options for those unable to attend in person. The event is designed as a welcoming and supportive way to mark progress made during Dry January, whether the goal is improved fitness, saving money or simply feeling fresher at the start of the year.

The course loops around Willen Lake on a largely flat and scenic course that is a mix of tarmac and gravel paths, with one lap for the 5K and two laps for the 10K. Participants can expect a friendly race day atmosphere, a charity technical t-shirt suitable for training and racing, a finisher medal and a goodie bag at the finish.

The event is organised by Alcohol Change UK, the charity behind the Dry January campaign. Alcohol Change UK works to reduce the harm caused by alcohol across the UK, supporting individuals and communities through practical tools, advice and campaigning. Through initiatives such as Dry January and the Try Dry app, it aims to show that change is possible.

Organisers say: "By taking part in the Dry January 10K, runners are not only ticking off an early season race but also supporting a wider mission to reduce alcohol harm and promote healthier lifestyles."
