Great Birmingham Run Back In 2026
One of the UK’s biggest and best running events, The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run, returns on 3 May 2026 with a city centre 10K and half marathon...
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run is set to return on 3 May 2026, promising another unforgettable celebration of running in the heart of the city. Widely regarded as the Midlands’ biggest and best running event, the race will once again offer runners the choice of a city centre 10K or half marathon, with thousands expected to take to the streets of Birmingham.
Starting and finishing in the city centre, the route showcases many of Birmingham’s most iconic landmarks. Runners will pass through areas including the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth, before a show stopping finish in Smithfield. Along the way, live music zones, roaring crowd support and a festival atmosphere help create one of the most electric race day experiences in the region.
The finish line celebrations are a highlight in their own right, with a grandstand finish and an event village that feels more like an after party than a recovery zone. From the buzz on the start line to the final metres of the course, the Great Birmingham Run is designed to deliver a full scale city running spectacle.
With Birmingham set to welcome the European Athletics Championships at Alexander Stadium in August 2026, the event offers runners a chance to take centre stage in their own city before Europe’s best athletes arrive. It is a moment to show off Brum at its boldest and loudest.
The race prides itself on being open to everyone, whether runners are taking on their first major challenge, chasing a new personal best, running for a cause close to their heart or simply seeing how far they can go. Thousands of participants raise money for charity each year, adding to the sense of community that defines the event.
The 2025 edition sold out completely, and organisers are urging runners to enter early to secure a place on the start line and take advantage of the best available prices!
