Do It The Dava Way!
Whether you’re aiming to set a course record or complete your first ultra, the Dava Way promises a memorable and challenging experience...
The Dava Way Ultra returns on 8 November, offering runners a spectacular 50K trail adventure from Grantown-on-Spey to Forres. The course follows the line of the old Highland Railway, providing traffic-free, runnable trails through some of Scotland’s most varied and scenic landscapes.
Starting in Grantown-on-Spey, participants will wind through the Anagach Woods, the town centre and onto the historic Dava Way. The route passes over the 321-metre Dava Summit before descending into the fertile Moray countryside around Forres, combining woodland, moorland and farm tracks along the way.
Along the trail, runners will encounter landmarks including the Divie Viaduct, Huntly’s Cove, the Halfway Hut with picnic facilities, and wood sculptures of a dragoon and a collie dog, offering plenty of points to admire Scotland’s history and natural beauty.
This ultra is ideal for runners looking to transition from marathon distances to ultra challenges, or for seasoned ultra runners seeking a fast, scenic 50K. The course also includes a playful detour through some of the race director’s favourite childhood running spots, rounding out the total distance.
Organisers say: "Experience, determination and a love of the Scottish trails are required, as the Dava Way will test both fitness and navigation, but rewards runners with breathtaking views, historic landmarks and one of the country’s most underappreciated long-distance trail routes."
