Run Like A Champ In The Highlands
With championship prestige, PB potential and a famously friendly atmosphere, the Inverness Half Marathon is not to be missed...
The Inverness Half Marathon returns on 8 March 2026 with the exciting news that it will once again host the Lindsays Scottish Half Marathon Championships. This will be the fourth consecutive year the national championships have been held in the Highland capital, attracting some of Scotland’s top endurance athletes to compete for the prestigious titles.
Club runners from across the country will line up alongside thousands of participants of all abilities, all taking on the popular spring race. The route, known for its fast potential and scenic views, starts on the banks of the River Ness and takes in many of Inverness’ best-loved landmarks before finishing with a warm Highland welcome in the heart of the city.
For many, the event provides the perfect early-season target, keeping training on track through autumn and winter. With chip-timed results, optional medals, technical t-shirts, giveaways and on-course fuel stations, runners are well supported to chase personal bests or simply enjoy the experience.
Alongside the half marathon, the Inverness 5K offers a shorter and equally enjoyable option. Flat and scenic, the 5K follows the River Ness through the city centre, making it an ideal event for beginners, younger runners or anyone looking to soak up the race-day atmosphere. Organisers guarantee that every participant, whatever their ability or experience, will cross the line with a smile.
