Monika at London Winter Run 2019

London Winter Run is snowed under!

No prizes for guessing the 'moniker' of our picture perfect runner above! Monika (motto: have phone, will travel) was among 18,500 finishers in the fifth Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 2019. Standard public entry runners are frozen out of this year's race on 9 February 2020 as the event is about to reach its (ice) cap but read on for ways in which you can still take part.

Should you be one of the unlucky prospective late entrants, you may like to know that you can still participate or contribute towards the success of London's coolest and biggest annual 10K, with its new entry limit of 25,000 for 2020.

Although the public entry route is now closed, Cancer Research UK have released a final 200 places for runners who pledge to donate a minimum £50 to help freeze cancer in its tracks. Just go to the Cancer Research UK charity places entry page and sign up now.

Alternatively, the London Winter Wander provides the chance to walk through London from one of four starting points. Each walk will take 60-90 minutes, will be led by group leaders and will finish in Trafalgar Square with all the excitement of the Après Party enjoyed by 25,000 happy runners. Participants will be awarded a bespoke Winter Wander medal (image below).

Volunteering is another way to get involved and sample the unique London Winter Run atmosphere. Perhaps you see yourself as a welcoming Polar Bear or a course marshal? There are many other roles and a special volunteers medal available, plus the priceless feeling of helping others to enjoy the event safely, while raising funds for a vital cause.

Finally, you can still run and be rewarded without even travelling to London on 9 February. The London Virtual Winter Run allows participants to tackle monthly challenges throughout January, February and March. Registration is free but there is a commitment to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and the opportunity to purchase an exclusive London Virtual Winter Run 2020 medal to mark your achievement.

London Winter Run 2020 will see the 100,000th finisher cross the line and more than £3million will have been raised for CRUK's life-saving work that has helped double cancer survival rates in UK over the past 40 years.
