Coastal Running Returns At Saxon Shore Half Marathon
Whitstable coastal race returns...
The Saxon Shore Half Marathon and Saxon Shore 10K return to Whitstable on Sunday 16 August 2026, bringing runners back to the Kent coastline for one of the area’s popular summer race weekends. Organised by Sporting Events UK, both races start from Whitstable Castle with a 9.30am start.
The route follows the seafront between Whitstable and Herne Bay, combining coastal views with long flat sections that appeal to runners chasing a fast time as well as those looking for an enjoyable summer race atmosphere.
With sea air, open views across the Kent coast and long uninterrupted stretches along the promenade, the event offers a very different feel from many inland summer races. The flat profile also makes it attractive for runners targeting a strong half marathon performance late in the season.
Now established as a regular fixture in the Kent running calendar, the race has sold out in previous years and continues to attract strong entries across both distances. Live music and the return of the post race after party at Whitstable Castle add to the social feel of the event weekend.
Entries for both the half marathon and 10K are now open, with organisers again expecting strong demand for the 2026 edition.
